The technology of Sheet Metal Fabrication started as far back as the time that man discovered iron as a work tool. The process of metal manipulation later became more developed and more intricately advanced during the discovery of gold. Since that time, man has never looked back from inventing various ways of expressing his ideas and turning metals into whatever forms he so desire.
Metal Sheet Fabrication is the term used to explain the manipulation of a piece of metal by cutting, bending and then assembling it into various sizes and shapes that could be used for any relevant purposes, for example as roofing sheets, tanks, hoppers, bases, cabinets, enclosures, just to name a few.

Some raw materials that could be used in Sheet Metal fabrication are metal, angle iron, welding wire, some hardware, with other formed and expanded metals. The construction proper requires materials such as mild carbon steel, coated steel, inconel, stainless steel, and cor-ten, etc
The raw materials must be cut to size and purpose through a process known as shearing. To cut, the most modern equipments used are cutting touches, which are powered by natural gas. While other tools are; water jets, laser and plasma cutters.

To form metals into the desired shape, hydraulic brakes are commonly used. Although to convert plate metals into round sections, rolling machines are more preferred. To bend metal without kinking, Tube bending machines are most commonly used, while wheeling machines are the most preferred choice for forming complex curvature of shapes.

The preparations of the raw materials are followed by welding, which is the main focus of sheet metal fabrication. There are needs for special precautions in order to avoid various health and production hazards such as warping.

After welding, the metal is cooled, after which it then becomes sand blasted and primed before it is now painted for usage and eventual delivery.
